The communities along the river have been shaped by the river and have, in turn, altered the river environment. We aim to protect the river and the communities that live on its banks. We also look to represent our communities in discussions about the river with government bodies, water companies and local authorities.

An important part of our work involves speaking up for the river and its communities in dealing with Government bodies such as the Environment Agency and water companies. This includes lobbying for improvements to legislation, monitoring changes to our designated bathing waters, and using the Environment Information Regulations to obtain information about water quality.
